Srikrishnamangal wishes all its readers a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year 2003.

Some die-hard Hindus dislike wishing each other on 1st January. They feel that since the Hindu New Year starts only in March-April, it is improper to follow this westernized custom.

However knowledgeable Hindus know that uttarayana period is very auspicious for Hindus for all purposes like marriages, upanayanam etc. This period is from January to June (Dec 22 to June 21) to be precise. Thus by wishing each other we are only heralding Uttarayana.
