Sri Krishna Mangal

Edition II: Editorial
Editorial

By the time the Second Edition of Srikrishnamangal reaches our readers, Maharashtra must have already completed the celebration of their most favourite festival, ie Ganesh Chaturthi. Srikrishnamangal had started the celebration much earlier, in June itself with the episodes of three of the eight deities in Ashtavinayaka Katha in the First Edition. Another three episodes can be found in this edition. The last two episodes along with other details about Ganapathi will appear in the next edition.

In the Personal column, the Editor is writing about her native place and the Sri Rama Temple at Thiruvilwamala in Thrissur district.

In the Religion section, Abdul Karim Biyabani is writing about the Alchemy of Religion and highlighting the commonalities found in the major religions of the world. In the Islamic section, he is enlightening the readers about the Night of the Ascent, when Prophet Mohammed (s.a.) was physically transferred from his resting place at Mecca to meet the benevolent Allah, this event occurred on the night of Rajab. In this year Hijri 1423, the date falls on 4 October

  • The last paragraph of the article is addressed to those Muslims who do not believe in the physical Meraj of the Prophet. There are two more special nights Shab-e-Barat and Shab-e-Dadr. The details about these nights will be appearing in the coming editions. As Ramazan fast has already commenced, we have added an article on the same under the head Islam.

Those portions of the Bible that deal with the essential teachings of Christ are depicted in the Christianity under the title The Essence of Christianity. In the next edition, we intend to deal with the various incidents connected with Jesus as shown in the Bible.

A rough idea about what constitutes Advaita philosophy can be seen in the philosophical section. It is based on Dakshinamoorthy Ashtakam a stotra by Adi Sankaracharya consisting of eight stanzas.

You can learn about the Srikrishnamangal Sieve to find out prime numbers between 1 and 1000. We take this opportunity to congratulate Prof Mahendra Aggarwal and his students Neeraju Katal and Nitin Saxena at IIT Kanpur for devising a way for a computer to tell quickly and definitively whether a number is prime. We also applaud Prof Madhusudan for winning the Nevan Linna Prize for his wide-ranging and brilliant contributions made in a variety of fields, including error-correcting codes.

In Sports, we are dealing with the plight of Robin Singh, a great player who has been victimized for no fault of his.

In Arts and Crafts, we are dealing with the Dhyana Keertanam in the set of eleven songs pertaining to the group of Navavarana Keertananams.

In the Indian Shastras, the predictions for the coming years for the people belonging to the twelve lunar signs are given by noted astrologer Shri Bhalchandra R Joshi. This has been necessitated by the transit of Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu and Kethu to the neighbouring signs in the year

  • In Potpourri, we are dealing with the problem of donations in schools and colleges.

We wish our viewers a Happy Deepavali, Ramzan Id and Christmas.
